Revelation

                                                                 Revelation
The dichotomy between this self and that? I never tried this region  which remained dormant so far-how it has taken an enormous shape now.
Renu felt as if she was drowned in the deep fathomless ocean where she was simply flailing her limbs in all directions trying to remain afloat while the two points of her pupils looked back into her skull. The deep bluish waters had stars of small fishes and other aquatic life swerling and speeding up in fits and starts-their rested semblances reflective of their next movements. The wedge like tails propelled their beautiful bodies into all possible directions. The heaving leviathan of waves turned and churned without affecting them.It was in such reveries when Renu saw herself emerging as a drifter.
It was a bazaar a resplendent bazaar  being surrounded by the adjoining buildings and apts .It  sort of nestled amidst them. Some fountains also played  in it- though  called a city of fountains  they did not impress her much. The spouting gargoyles were of statues she could not recognize being poor in history and geography.  The rows of shops on either side of the road  resembled the ones in any metropolitan cities of the world. Here the day warmed up with the aroma of myriad cuisines to be served to the ever present gentry in the enclosures done up tastefully.Renu passed them fleeting glances and suddenly started comparing them to  the cattle she once had the chance to see in Berlin. The cattle were lined up in the enclosures of a farm- land mooing and bleating with their light brown eyes and blonde hides. They looked frivolous to her not the ponderous sedate buffaloes of her native country. She felt that the  gentry here sitting in rows somehow resembled them. Their blonde shaggy hair ,honey coloured eyes were the common denominator-while the rest fell in regular pattern.Either a tight jean and a skimpy top or something manipulative which helped them to highlight the bareness of their bodies. They were all wolfing on huge colourless sausages which disappeared in their wispy mouths. The rows and rows of them-their heads gelling –their bodies merging and fading in the monotony of cutlery ,hand and mouth movements.
She walked on and lingered near the pretty groves of flower beds. The resplendent flowers looked   inviting .She sensed a wink and a mischievous tilt in them towards her. .A smile spread on her face. She waved them a kiss and caressing them  invisibly moved ahead. The fountains were playing to the neat black shiny benches all vacant and the spouting statue in an eternal pose of going through the  penance of Atlas.

THE PICTURE FRAME

Meeta  is  in her seventies.  She is  full of  zest  for life and seeks every opportunity to be in the company of her friends. Her salt and pepper short hair goes well with her plump fat body. Her style of dressing accentuates  her care- free demeanour . Her age doesn't hamper her in anyway. She  often cracks  jokes which generally veer to obscenity, to make her friends laugh , which for a moment unsettles them ,but then they go with the flow. The instinct to deride  looks  meaningless  at such  an age.  Meeta   had lost her husband lately  and her only son  lived  in the U.S . She cultivated a large number of friends and revived the distant family  relations. She was awash with money and threw lavish parties. Generally all her friends are  retired  house wives  facing the same empty nest syndrome. They had  now ample time  to indulge their fancies  which the...

OSTRICH

Her  restlessness knew no reason yet it was intense. Nothing diverted her. The opaque  sky couldn't filter the cool shades of the spring Sun ...the smog smothered it. Perhaps this annoyed her so she drew the thick curtains to block the dismal light.    Her eyes meandered around the objects in her room ,they were the mere  objects  now having lost the lustre of their youthful era. 'Era ' no doubt since it seemed decades when she had  fretted over them, their quality and their cost which attracted the envious eyes of her friends. Before her now , beamed the  big screen of the t.v. It  was blaring  the routine 'breaking -news 'of the pre election crescendo .The mushrooming of parties made it difficult to discriminate among them. She could only hear the blabbering voices of the myriad  groups  and  those of  budding  anchors of the  vastly sprouting channels  which  were  always at loggerhea...
